Decades Research Assignment:

Its now "reading week" and we have to produce a couple of presentation sheets. The first one is general research of the decade and to identify the key movements in art & design. The second is to research a specific topic within the decade and then identify the key people and key works in that field. I chose 'cinema' as my topic to expand on, this is because i instantly knew many films from that era.
Oh yeah, my decade is the 1970s.
Heres my 2 research sheets...

"final graphic object"

hello, for my final piece i have used the same principles of our jeffs fakery and made them my own somewhat.
i firstly took a picture of a row of shops in the lovely new liverpool one shopping place thing, i chose here as it looks nice and there was easy but in depth things to draw.

i then drew each part of this photograph on A3 paper, starting with the components that are in the background. i then built up the piece by adding drawings of the shop fronts, people, tree, bin and lampost.

this relates to walls work as i have basically used his principle for his '...sudden gust of wind...' piece, where he made that one photo using 100 different photographs. obviously it is not in greater depth as his work. my object (clock) comes into my work as wall completes his photos over a certain period of time. using '...sudden gust of wind...' as an example again, this took him over a year to construct and complete. i thought this was a good way of representing my object as it wasnt super obvious, but i think if you knew about walls work then youd understand his methods and therefore mine.

here be some wee drawings of my final piece for your viewing pleasure...

ps  i wouldnt click on the pictures cos theyre massive and youll get a shock in your eye portal, unless thats the way you roll.

our jeff...

wally lad likes to be a bit mental and take ages over one photo, 'a sudden gust of wind (after hokusai)' took over a year and consists of 100 photographs. you wouldnt be able to tell this, im not going to take my hat off to him though.

heres a quote from the man himself, just for the hell of it...

"I didn’t want to spend my time running around trying to
find an event
that could be made into a picture that would be good"

so basically hes a fake! end of chat.

also, i researched clocks and found out that these are used to tell the time. who wouldve thought.

Oh yeah...

this is for school (im trying out americanisms) and not for nonsense i think. so here we go...

we done did get a project where we had to pick an artist out of a hat (i got Jeff Wall) and also we were forced to pick an object (i plucked out a clock).
i didnt have a clue about mr.wall but it turns out hes rather celebrated in the world of photography. the way i look at it is that id probably have heard of him if he was any cop like. hes got the last laugh though as hes no doubt swimming in a pool of gold coins whilst im effectively in debt now, as is every higher education learner. the (not so) free money off the government is pretty nice though, as it enables me to be reckless and give a large chunk of it out of my pocket to the cavernous pockets of them apple computer people. the new macbooks are a joy to look at, feel and use. anyway, i have digressed somewhat...to conclude, my project is based around jeff wall and a clock. ta-ra.

stage one of becoming an internet div...

i've always had a hatred for blogs, but on the other hand i have always hankered for one so i can scribble some vanity scrawlings in the hope someone will give me money or something of great value. at the moment i am currently enjoying 4H pencils. the end.
